European Tour 20th September to 6th October 2010

A very talented and dynamic team from Taipa Area School was invited to attend an Indigenous Festival (Asia Festival) at Casa Asia in Barcelona from the 23rd - 27th September.

Representation at this event included presentations and demonstrations of the game to large audiences as well as kapa haka performances expressing the culture and heritage of New Zealand Maori and our treasured pastimes.

On 2 October 2010, the group then joined the New Zealand National team in Gif-Sur-Yvette near Paris to participate in an international Ki-o-rahi tournament led by All Black sports legend Buck Shelford and Maori sports practitioner, educator & author, Harko Brown.

In the lead up to our tour, our students, parents, educators and supporters actively talked to our community - fundraising and seeking sponsorship and support from local organisations.
